Accessibility

  • Knowing the accessibility and potential barriers of a venue allows you to make informed choices. The below information is intended to help support you to understand if this will be an accessible space for your needs. Please let us know if you have any questions or if there are other ways we can support your access needs.

  • A Social Story or Social Script can help support people with what to expect when they are experiencing a new place, activity or service. Some people from the Autistic community like to have an understanding of what to expect. Like many inclusive practices, everyone benefits. Please feel free to use this resource to help you or a person in your care understand what to expect from your visit to Mind Mirror Therapy.

    Sensory Considerations

    • Mind Mirror Therapy is a small practice that uses shared counselling rooms and therefore there may be other people in the wait room when you arrive. The waiting room is a quiet space.

    • The practice is on a busy street where the sounds of cars, buses, trams and people can be heard. Inside the building windows are double glazed and there are heavy walls blocking out noise from outside

    • Our practitioners do not wear strong colognes or perfumes as these can be overwhelming for some (don't worry though, we don't stink!)

    • We bring some sensory tools (fidgets) into each session which you are welcome to use. You are also welcome to bring your own.

    • If you have any questions, requests or strong aversions please let us know

  • You are welcome to invite a support person, interpreter or advocate along to your session. As a small business we cannot afford to hire an interpreter on your behalf but you are of course welcome to attend with an Auslan interpreter from your NDIS plan or other language interpreters available to you.

Service animals are of course welcome to attend. There is a patch of grass on the nature strip on the North-East side of the Nicholson Street and Holden Street intersection that may be suitable for toileting your service animal.
